One of my dearest friends asked me this question on December 11, 2017. I am an avid journaler, so I documented the conversation so I could reflect on it later......rather obsess over it, if I'm being honest.
My dear friend hugged me and then asked, "Are you in a good place?" I didn't know why she was asking me that. Did I have a nasty look on my face? Was my attitude seemingly unpleasant? Why was she asking me that? Then, she proceeded to say, "Sometimes you have to change your attitude about things. You cannot take your old ways of thinking into new places. You have to get rid of those old ways of thinking."
I went home and chewed on the question and the analysis that followed. It took me about 6 months to figure out what this question applied to. It was a year of transition for me. I was at a fairly new job, in a new career and trying to find my way. New, being the key word. I had to shift my thinking and create new habits and ideas for the new space I was navigating.
My question for you is the same, are you in a good place? What old habits, thoughts and beliefs are you trying to stuff into your current life position? If you are spending more time thinking about how to make it work than actually working your plan, you may need to reassess. Ask yourself the following questions to help usher in newness:
What old habits might need an upgrade?
How can I do things differently to ward off boredom, yet achieve the same results? (if the results are working in your favor)
Does this new space require me to learn something different? If so, do I know where to get the information I need to learn?
What have I been doing that is still working?
Who can I connect with to help me in this new exploration?
Remember, this is your life. You get to navigate through it however you deem fit. On the same token, you are responsible for your input. Your input will determine the outcome. Happy Trails!
